Join the Centreville High School Wildcat Band!

Select a Course

All 8th Graders interested in joining band at Centreville High School should select one of the following courses listed on your course selection sheet:

  • Band 923316 - (Wind/Brass players) [Concert Band]
  • Percussion Ensemble 925015 - (Percussionists only) [Percussion Ensemble]

After you have selected one of the options above, Mrs. Hall will place you into our actual band classes (listed below). Class placement is based on ability and experience level.

Band Classes Offered

  • Band - Two levels: Concert Band, Symphonic Band
  • Percussion Ensemble - Equivalent of concert band level for percussion students
  • Advanced Band - Wind Ensemble*
  • Jazz Ensemble **

*Eligibility for this ensemble requires participation in Marching Band

**This Class is offered as an 11th period class that meets after school on Wednesdays starting in the second quarter.

Throughout the school year band students TRAVEL to many places! In recent years the Wildcat Band has travelled to :

FLORIDA, CHICAGO, NEW YORK, HAWAII, VIRGINIA BEACH, ATLANTA and more!

Marching Band FAQs

What is Marching Band?

Marching Band (aka the Wildcat Marching Band) is an activity that combines music and movement to create performances that are both entertaining and educational. The Wildcat Marching Band is recognized as one of the most popular and beloved student activities in the Centreville High School community!

Who can participate in Marching Band?

Any students signed up for a band class at CVHS is eligible to participate. Students not enrolled in a band class have the opportunity to participate as a member of the Color Guard only.

Is Marching Band all year?

No. Marching Band begins a few weeks before school starts with our summer camp. The season usually ends in early November, typically around the end of the 1st quarter.

When does Marching Band start?

Marching band starts on our around August 1st each year.

Following your first day, summer marching band rehearsals continue Monday-Friday for two weeks. There will be some additional dates in the week leading up to the start of school (details to come). These dates serve as the backbone of our season and our students’ success. We respectfully request that families coordinate summer travel and vacation plans outside of these dates. Where does the Marching Band perform?

We typically perform at all varsity home football games, one (1) away football game and 3-4 marching band competitions each season. Varsity football games usually occur on Friday nights and competition performances begin in late September and occur on Saturdays.

Does the Marching Band practice during the school day?

No. Once school begins, the marching band practices after school three (3) days a week. The general practice schedule is:

○ Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 3:15PM-5:15PM

○ Color Guard and/or Percussion may vary from this schedule. TBD

What are the benefits of participating in Marching Band

How can I join Marching Band?
  • Sign up for BAND when picking your classes for next year.
  • When marching band sign-up information is distributed (through your middle school band class), make sure you sign up by the deadline. Numbers are needed to plan so your commitment is important.
  • If interested in Color Guard, participate in tryouts (TBD) to be considered for the team.
